I’m not normally a fan of lowered cars. I prefer more stock restos. But this looks really nice. Just right.

I’m digging all of it ... except the front mounted exhaust.

It ruins it for me :’(

Well, it’s on the passenger side, so it won’t be that quick.

Wheels are too big.

LS=Fail.

It’s definitely a cool car, I was just reading about it yesterday. These guys built one that looks fun too and it won the Holley LS Fest burnout challenge .

The wheels don’t bother me too much because they’re steelies (also, more room for big brakes) . And the the engine? It’s literally a test mule for Holly, and it’s making big power.

Would a big block have been neat? Sure. But if I’m gonna actually drive it much then the LS is the answer.

I dig it!

Don’t care for the front exhaust, that’s a bit of  WTF.

That’s a big turbo drag car thing. They typically just dump the exhaust as quickly as they can after the turbo.

Eh, i t’s a drag racing thing. I’d probably reroute it rearward, but it’s not a big deal.

LS swaps are just too overdone. It’s the easy way out.

IMO classics look dumb with big wheels.

A modded NA big block could make the same amount of power, while being just as “drive able”. This is an LS swap for sake of LS swap, which IMO is just too overdone to be cool at this point.

I also feel big wheels look out of place on classics, regardless of the reason.

Again, the entire point of the build is to be a testbed/show car for Holleys turbo stuff for LSs.

The big steelies look way better than any other big wheel options out there. It’s a restomod without being dumb looking deep dish pro-touring wheels on it, so I consider it a win.

you’re right, they should have gone with a more complicated, less reliable, less proven, more difficult route just for the sake of doing it the hard way...?

lol, k.

You’re entitled to your opinion on the wheels. Good thing that’s an easy fix.

It’s a LS because that’s the go-to power unit for power and price. Big blocks and small blocks of old are not popular and not big sellers anymore. The world has moved on. People left flatheads in the past decades ago when the small block first came around. Just because YOU like the old stuff doesn’t mean the rest of the world wants to buy it. Big block parts are also insanely expensive and always have been. 350 and 454 swaps used to be the thing to do for decades. It was extremely overdone and now you want to go back to it??

Also - Does anyone even make performance rubber with tall sidewalls? That isn’t specifically for drag racing. I think it looks fantastic as is.

When the went racing with it they had some slicks and skinnies on what look like Weld Racing wheels. Which are great for drag racing but probably miserable/illegal  on the street

NA big block would kind of defeat the purpose of it being a development test bed for forced induction.

Kinja'd!!! Derpwagon > Long-Voyager
06/28/2018 at 16:37

Kinja'd!!!0

right, that way they couldn’t test the feasibility of the kit on a swapped application, because nobody uses LS engines in old cars. /s

i’m willing to bet that the car is exactly what they want it to be, testing products for people who are building exactly what they want to build. I’d think a minivan enthusiast would understand that.

Kinja'd!!! Long-Voyager > Derpwagon

Minivan Enthusiasts have to build everything themselves, there is no aftermarket.

I get people building what they want. I just hate LS swaps in otherwise clean vehicles, if this was some parts car they decided to make a toy out of, or some basket case, or your original engine has no potential, ok sure. It just seems like no one actually tries anymore, “eh, let’s LS swap it and join the bandwagon”.

It’s just my opinion, overall I like the car, I just wouldn’t call it perfection.

Yeah, I totally gathered that from “wheels are too big, LS = fail”.
